📣 Announcing kotoha’s First Overseas Exhibition! 📣
On May 23 (Sat) and 24 (Sun), kotoha will be participating in the "SHU HA RI 2026" event, hosting a special exhibition titled "KOTOBA – Lost in Words" in Berlin.
Often, Japanese words are consumed overseas based on fragmented images, stripped of their original meanings and cultural contexts—such as "ZEN" being reduced simply to relaxation or minimalism, or "SUSHI" just representing iconic Japanese food. This exhibition aims to visualize these semantic "gaps" and invites visitors to explore and enjoy this intriguing sense of disconnect.
Additionally, we will be showcasing a variety of new exhibits focusing on Japanese regional dialects and traditional Yamato kotoba (native Japanese words). Original merchandise featuring Japanese words will also be available for purchase at the venue!
